Floating Support Worker
Reports to: Service Manager, Deputy Service Manager, Quality Assurance manager
Location: Various places according to Service User location
Working Hours: Rota shifts over 7 days a week
Purpose of role
Floating Support Workers deliver services to our clients in our independent supported accommodations or in their own personal homes. Our client base may be living with long-term mental health and substance misuse issues, and some with learning or physical disability. “Our goal is to provide outstanding social care in supportive personalised environments; to empower our clients to achieve their goals on their recovery journey to independence and better quality of life.” This goal is actualised by providing support systems to enable individuals to adapt to everyday life within the community. The roles involve working in a person-centred way to assist our clients to develop the coping skills to combat recurring crises such as hospitalisation, homelessness and other issues which generally compromises their wellbeing.
Duties and Responsibilities

- To advocate on behalf of individuals where appropriate
- To support individuals to work towards their agreed support plans, which are regularly reviewed, to help them to meet their identified needs and goals
- To accurately record and update support plans, service user records, reports and other relevant documentation as required
- To liaise and establish good working relationships with all relevant external agencies to provide the best possible service for individuals
- Attend the homes of identified individuals/families to carry out duties and tasks as specified in their care plan designed to enable a good degree of independent living - for example, go with the client to collect welfare benefits or visit dentist appointment etc.
Specific Requirements for the Qualifications, Skills and Experience
L2/3 Certificate in Adult Health & Social Care Qualifications
Proficient written, verbal English and IT skills to maintain accurate Care Planning records.
Problem-Solving skills to plan, develop, implement, and assess health and wellbeing situations where a need for protection is required.
Communication skills to build rapport with clients and inform colleagues, management, and professionals about the needs of clients.
Teamwork skills to be able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
Leadership skills to provide support/assistance as they accomplish daily tasks, e.g. budgeting, prompting of medication, preparing food, going food shopping, attending appointments.
Experience of working with Service Users, especially those with additional support needs.
Previous experience of working in similar roles.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £11.50-£15.00 per hour
